Emmanouil Foukarakis graduated from the High school of New Alikarnassos in Heraklion Crete with a grade of 19.3/20 (‘Excellent’). In 2013, he joined the Department of Physics of the University of Crete as an undergraduate student from which he obtained his BSc in physics in January 2019. In 2022 was admitted in the MSc program of Advanced Physics.

Career

Since 2023 he is a member of the project "ARGOS". For his MSc thesis he is working under the supervision of Prof. Vasiliki Pavlidou in collaboration with Dr. John Antoniadis in the study of neutrino radio signatures with the "ARGOS" program.

Ioannis Orfanos studied physics at the University of Athens until 2022 when he graduated. Immediately after, in September 2022, he began his studies in the "Advanced Physics" postgraduate program at the University of Crete.

Career

During his undergraduate studies, he completed his thesis, entitled "Gamma radiation absorption by GRBs via photon-photon reaction", under the supervision of Professor Apostolos Mastichiadis.

Giannis Volakakis graduated from the 3rd high school of Rethymno in 2017. The same year he started his undergraduate studies in the Physics Department of the University of Crete. He obtained his BSc in Physics in 2022 and was admitted in the MSc programm of Advanced Physics of the same Department.

Career

Charalambos Daoutis received his bachelor's degree in physics in 2021 and his Master's in Advanced Physics in the field of Astrophysics and Space Physics in 2022 from the University of Crete. In the fall of 2022 he was accepted as a PhD student at the Department of Physics.

Career

During his undergraduate and postgraduate studies he studied the various mechanisms of galaxy activity. He developed diagnostics for galactic activity in the optical and infrared part of the spectrum, utilizing machine learning methods. He collaborates with Professor Andreas Zezas in the study of the evolution of galaxies and the application of machine learning methods in Astrophysics. In May 2022 he commenced a studentship at the Center for Astrophysics at Harvard University (USA).

Career

During her senior high school years she participated in various mathematical contests of the Greek Mathematical Society and she was awarded the "Euclides" prize twice and the "Thales" prize three times. In October of 2022 she joined the Institute of Astrophysics at FORTH. She is currently working on topics related to high-energy cosmic rays under the supervision of Prof. Pavlidou and Prof. Tassis. She was awarded the 2023 George Grammatikakis prize for her academic performance.

Diego Álvarez Ortega obtained his BSc in Physics at the Universidad de Valladolid (Spain) in 2021. He obtained his MSc in Particle Physics and Physics of the Cosmos at Universidad de Cantabria (Spain) in 2022.

Career

In 2021 he was awarded with a JAE Intro SOMdM scholarship to complete his master thesis “On the inpainting of incomplete CMB sky maps” at the Instituto de Física de Cantabria (IFCA). Since December 2022 he is a PhD student at the University of Crete and IA-FORTH under the supervision of Dr. Carolina Casadio.
