Chrysostomos Sidiropoulos graduated from the high school of Hellenic College of Thessaloniki in 2020 with a grade of 19.6/20 (‘Excellent’). That same year, he was admitted to the Department of Physics at the University of Ioannina to pursue his undergraduate studies. He graduated in the summer of 2024 and started his MSc in "Advanced Physics" in the Department of Physics at the University of Crete.

Career

In 2021, he became a member of the ExoClock Project, which supports the ARIEL mission of the European Space Agency (ESA). In 2024, he completed his thesis titled "Solving the Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff (TOV) equations for neutron stars with polytropic equations of state and continuous speed of sound," under the supervision of Professor Panagiota Kanti.

Nikolas Vasilas graduated from the 2nd High School of Heraklion, Crete, in 2020 with a grade of 19.9/20 ("Excellent"). The same year, he began his undergraduate studies in the Department of Physics at the University of Crete. In July 2024, he graduated, and in September of the same year, he started his Master’s in “Advanced Physics” at the Department of Physics at the University of Crete, with a concentration in “Astrophysics and Space Physics”.

Career

2016, he and his school’s science team participated in the ESA “ASTRO PI” competition, advancing to the next phases with two projects. In the summer of 2022, he began his bachelor’s thesis titled “Diagnostics for Compact Object Types in Extragalactic X-ray Binaries” under the supervision of Professor A. Zezas, in which he studied X-ray binaries using machine learning techniques and algorithms. He presented it in July 2024. That same summer, he was accepted to and attended the 2022 Summer School of Astrostatistics in Crete. In the summer of 2023, he completed an internship at JADBio – Gnosis DA as a junior data scientist. In the summer of 2024, he undertook an Erasmus+ internship at the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics. Under the supervision of Dr. Johannes Buchner, he applied simulation-based inference on eROSITA surveys of quasars and their host galaxies. At the end of this internship, he presented a poster at the “First Results from the SRG/eROSITA All-Sky Survey: From Stars to Cosmology” conference.

Vasilis Diamantopoulos received his High School Diploma from the 8th General High School of Peristeri in 2018. In the same year he began his studies in the Department of Physics of the University of Crete. Career

In 2024 he started working on his bachelor’s thesis titled  “X-ray Variability Studies of NGC 4051” under the supervision of professor Iossif Papadakis, which he presented in October of the same year.

Evangelos Kontopodis graduated from the 1st High School of Ierapetra in 2019 with a grade of 18.7/20. In the same year, he started his undergraduate studies in the Department of Physics of the University of Crete. Career

In the summer of 2022, he completed his internship at Skinakas Observatory and the following summer worked there voluntarily. In the fall of 2023, he started working on his senior thesis studying the long term optical variability of Be/X-ray binaries under the supervision of Dr. Reig, which completed in the autumn of 2024. Afterwards, he started working on his thesis studying secondary standard stars in the field of view of Be/X-ray binary systems, again under the supervision of Dr. Reig.

Career

In 2023 he worked and completed his undergraduate thesis, titled “Warm Molecular Gas in Hot Dust-Obscured Quasars”, under the supervision of Dr. Tanio Diaz-Santos. During the summer of 2022, he completed his 3-month internship as an observant in Skinakas Observatory. He is now working on his master thesis under the supervision of Prof. I. Papadakis. For his MSc thesis he will study the flux variability of the accretion discs in Active Galactic Nuclei.

In 2019, under the supervision of Prof. Vasiliki Pavlidou, he participated in the “SMILE: Search for Milli-Lenses” project, and became an official member of the project in 2021. The same year he started working, under the supervision of Dr. Casadio Carolina, on his senior thesis concerning the study of a sample of compact radio loud sources using VLBI radio data in search of strong gravitational lens systems that could account for Dark Matter halo candidates.

Anastasia started her undergraduate studies in the Department of Physics at the University of Crete in 2018. She graduated in 2022 and commenced her MSc in Advanced Physics in 2023.

Career

During the summer of 2021 she worked as an intern at the Skinakas Observatory under the supervision of Dr. Reig. In 2022 she started working on her senior thesis with Dr. Reig studying the long term optical variability of Be/X-ray binaries. She also spend 5 months at the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy as an intern where she worked on the project entitled: "Do all gaps in protoplanetary discs host planets?". In 2023 she started working for her master thesis studying the long-term polarimetric variability of Be/X-ray binaries in order to study the neutron star-disc connection.
