In the 1990s, surveys of only a few dozen Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) provided the first evidence for the accelerating expansion of the Universe, reshaping modern cosmology. Three decades later, wide-field facilities such as the Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF) now deliver thousands of SNe Ia per year, enabling not only precision cosmology but also population-level studies that probe peculiar subtypes and advance our understanding of progenitor systems and explosion mechanisms. Looking ahead, the Vera Rubin Observatory’s Legacy Survey of Space and Time (LSST) will discover tens of thousands of SNe Ia annually across a broad redshift range. To fully exploit this discovery space, large-scale spectroscopic follow-up will be essential. The 4MOST Time-Domain Extragalactic Survey (TiDES) is one such effort, designed to provide classifications and host-galaxy redshifts for LSST transients. Together, LSST and TiDES will extend the field far beyond what was possible in the 1990s or even with ZTF, delivering the statistical power to probe both SNe Ia cosmology and progenitor physics as a function of redshift, stellar population age, and galactic environment. In this talk, I will present results from the recent ZTF Type Ia Supernova Data Release 2 (DR2), outline our plans for the forthcoming DR3, and discuss how these efforts pave the way for the transformative science enabled by LSST and TiDES.
