I. Liodakis awarded 2020 Gruber fellowship

Liodakis Announcement Date :

The Institute of Astrophysics is excited to report that one of our past members Dr. Ioannis Liodakis, (PhD 2017 Univ. of Crete and FORTH) has been awarded a 2020 Gruber fellowship from the Gruber Foundation.

Since 2011 the Gruber Foundation has established the Gruber fellowship, awarded by the International Astronomical Union, to outstanding early-career astrophysicists. The financial support of $25,000 is intended to cover travel, subsistence and research expenses supplementing a postdoctoral appointment, thus boosting the early careers of exceptional astronomers and promoting a thriving research community. The host institute must be a centre of excellence in the fellow’s field of research, and be located in a different country from that in which the fellow’s PhD was awarded.

Dr. Ioannis Liodakis after completing his PhD in Crete, moved as a Kavli Fellow to Stanford University (USA). Since August 2020 he is a postdoctoral fellow at the Finnish Centre for Astronomy with ESO (FINCA), University of Turku (Finland).
