The Institute of Astrophysics is excited to announce that Mr. Alexandros Tsouros, a PhD student, who is already working under the supervision of Prof. Pavlidou, has been selected for the 2024 "Eleftherios N. Economou Doctoral Student Research Award”.
The award was established by the Department of Physics in to honour Professor Eleftherios N. Economou, the first chairman of the Department and an internationally distinguished scientist, who played a key role in shaping the first critical steps of the University of Crete and the Department of Physics, and who contributed continuously to research and teaching for over 40 years. The "Eleftherios N. Economou Research Award" is awarded to a PhD student, in recognition of the added value of the Department of Physics as a place where talented young people can conduct research of international importance in Greece.
The prize will be awarded to Mr. Tsouros by the Chairman of the Department of Physics, Prof. Andreas Zezas, during a ceremony of the Department of Physics on Thursday 21 November 2024 at 5pm.
