Abstract :
Following an introduction setting cosmological studies in their current context, we will present galaxy clusters. As the most massive objects in the universe, they have the potential to serve as a powerful cosmological probe. They are also very interesting laboratories for astrophysics. The X-ray range is particularly relevant to these studies. We will present the XMM-Euclid FornaX project. This Multi-Year Heritage programme is conducting a deep survey of a 10 deg² region of the southern sky. One of the main objectives is to understand the interactions between clusters and AGNs at high redshifts in order to better characterise cluster evolution, a key ingredient for cosmology. This project is accompanied by an extensive programme of simulations. We will present the preliminary results. We will conclude with a presentation on Athena, ESA’s next X-ray mission.
