Ioanna Leonidaki obtained her B.Sc. in Physics in 2003 and her M.Sc in Theoretical, Computational Physics and Astrophysics in 2006 from the University of Patras. In 2012, she obtained her PhD in Astrophysics from the University of Patras in collaboration with Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics (CfA) in Boston, MA, USA and National Observatory of Athens (NOA).

Career :

The period from 12/2012 to 02/2016, she worked as a post-doctoral researcher at the Institute of Astronomy, Astrophysics, Space Applications and Remote Sensing (IAASARS) of National Observatory of Athens (NOA). Since March 2016, she is a post-doc researcher at Institute of Astrophysics at FORTH and University of Crete – Department of Physics.

Interests :

Observational Extragalactic Astrophysics, with emphasis on optical, X-ray and infrared astrophysics: Studies of the properties of Supernova Remnants (SNRs) in different types of galaxies and in different wavelengths (optical, X-rays), probing for their interaction with the Interstellar Medium (ISM). Studies of (Ultra) Luminous Infrared Galaxies (ULIRGs): investigation of how dense gas in these galaxies correlates with Star Formation Rate.
