Education :

Ioanna Leonidaki obtained her B.Sc. in Physics in 2003 and her M.Sc in Theoretical, Computational Physics and Astrophysics in 2006 from the University of Patras. In 2012, she obtained her PhD in Astrophysics from the University of Patras in collaboration with the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics (CfA) in Boston, MA, USA and the National Observatory of Athens (NOA).

Career :

The period from 12/2012 to 02/2016, she worked as a post-doctoral researcher at the Institute of Astronomy, Astrophysics, Space Applications and Remote Sensing (IAASARS) of National Observatory of Athens (NOA). Since March 2016, she is a post-doc researcher at Institute of Astrophysics at FORTH and University of Crete – Department of Physics.

Interests :

Observational Extragalactic Astrophysics, with emphasis on optical, X-ray and infrared astrophysics: Studies of the properties of Supernova Remnants (SNRs) in different types of galaxies and in different wavelengths (optical, X-rays), probing for their interaction with the Interstellar Medium (ISM). Observational (optical) campaign of the entire SNR population in our Galaxy: the first atlas of Galactic SNRs is under construction which, along with existing multi-wavelength data, will shed light on their evolutionary trails and how they energize their surrounding medium.
